Our New Musical Director
Jane Furness
Hello friends! I’m Jane, a busy home educating mum of two littlies, and I am very excited to begin working with Kirsty and Lisburn Harmony Extra. Singing groups and choirs are my favourite musical experiences, and I have been involved in them for as long as I remember; from school choirs and a local youth choir in Dungannon as a child, to my university and college choirs at City University London and Cambridge University. Being a part of the London Philharmonia Chorus and singing with the chamber choir at Wells Cathedral School have also been highlights, before embarking on my music teaching career in Cambridge and Hertfordshire in England, followed by an expat year teaching in China. I’m currently enjoying singing with Gathered Voices in Dungannon and I’m delighted to be part of the team who are encouraging more singers in our communities!
Venue
St. Patrick’s Parish Centre is on Chapel Hill, Lisburn. There are two public car parks, free in the evening, available beside the venue. These are on Longstone Street, and Governors’ Road. There are accessible car parking spaces at the Parish Centre too. We will be singing in the Magheramesk Room, on the left of the large hall. The venue is completely accessible for anyone with additional needs.
The Music!!!!
You can look forward to a variety of genres and song styles. Lisburn Harmony prides itself on an eclectic mix of songs, and Lisburn Harmony Xtra will be the same. Some a capella, some pop, maybe a Musical Theatre classic, something from the repertoire of modern Women’s voice composers…..
