Rainforest Singing Workshop with Su Hart | |
Su Harts Rainforest singing workshops are inspired by many visits to the Baka Rainforest People in Central Africa since 1992 and learning from their unbroken indigenous musical culture. The Baka are thought to be the first humans to sing. Their rainforest singing styles build community, traditionally helping to heal illness and argument, soothes babies and enchants the forest animals ensuring luck in the hunt. it is a beautiful interlocking of sound and is accessible, rhythmic and fun, fun for singers or fun even if you think you are not a singer.
Su is initiated by the Baka women to share this singing with you and royalties go back to them for projects in the forest through the charity Global Music Exchange.
The workshop builds co-operative, listening and rhythm skills. Great for sound blending and mending and to learn the new singing techniques of forest yodelling, “Yelli”
Su is a singer and choir leader based in Bath and has performed and taught Baka singing globally. She has an inclusive & infectious style holding the singing with humour and depth, creating a sense of ease and unity. The Baka’s co operative musical awareness has informed Su’s teaching and singing, the aim is always to bring great fun, active listening, harmony and confidence for all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
Blissful musical interlocking fun!! All about listening.
