Sing for Water Shrewsbury 2025 | |

This year, we are delighted to announce that the SING FOR WATER SHROPSHIRE event will happen in Shrewsbury as part of the Belle Vue Arts Festival on SUNDAY 8TH JUNE.
The concert will raise money for WATERAID, a charity that provides clean water to communities that do not have safe and clean water. Every penny of your fundraising will go directly to WaterAid.
This ticketing site is for you to sign up for the REHEARSALS in April.
There will be 3 rehearsals in April and you can attend as many or as few as you like. The cost is the same – £15 for 3 sessions
You can then go on to join the concert on June 8th, more info will follow about the specifics of that day, but for now, you need to keep the morning free to rehearse (10.30-12.30) and the afternoon free for the performances (1-1.45 and 2-2.45)
You do not need to commit to the concert in order to come to the April rehearsals! In fact, by attending the rehearsals you are already raising money for WaterAid, as I will be donating a good percentage of the ticket price to Sing for Water.
ABOUT THE CHOIR and CONCERT
The Shropshire Sing for Water Choir will be made up of singers from a variety of choirs, as well as people who are signing up for just this SFW concert. You will be part of a BIG choir and will make an impressive sound. I have conducted over 30 massed choirs in this way, and it is always quite phenomenal how it all comes together. So I am reassuring you that no-one needs to be perfect at the repertoire, we all get carried along somehow!
You do not need any prior choir experience.
Also, sound files are made available, so you can do some practise outside of the April rehearsals, and you’ll be able to attend Roxane or Hanna’s choir to do additional practise – there will be an additional cost for this.
WHAT IS WATERAID
WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good.
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.
ABOUT SING FOR WATER
Sing for Water is a singing project that has been going for more than 20 years. Singers gather together and do the 2 things they love. We raise our voices in harmony, but we also raise money for Water Aid. WaterAid is a charity that works all over the world with people and communities that do not have access to clean drinking water or sanitation.
The fundraising can take many forms: – there have been sponsored singing events in swimming pools; choir concerts where the proceeds go to Sing for Water; there’s been busking and singing by the seaside, on promenades and piers.
One of the many joys of this project is that it brings singers together from different choirs and we learn a shared repertoire. Resources are made available in the form of sound files for choir members and musical scores for choir leaders. This helps the ‘shared repertoire’ spread across the choirs in Shropshire, the UK and beyond!
There has been a London Sing for Water concert for approx 20 out of the last 22 years and Shropshire Sing for Water events have been going for over 10 years.
The venue and singers may vary, but the mission is always the same. To have fun singing together and to raise as much as possible for Water Aid and to help the world’s poorest people.
