Harmony Too by Candlelight

Sorry FULL

Harmony Too, affectionately known as the “wee choir” will be creating a magical Winter’s evening in the beautiful surrounds of the historic Ballance House at Glenavy. Singing to an intimately small audience, lit by candlelight, Harmony Too will sing a selection of seasonal songs from all genres, designed to create an atmosphere of calm, and peace.

Harmony Too is an upper voice chamber group of 20 singers who all belong to Lisburn Harmony Ladies Choir, and have their own additional set of repertoire. They have been singing together for fifteen years.

Recently they won the ladies choir class of Bangor International Choral Festival, and were awarded the coveted trophy for Performance of the Festival! Harmony Too enjoy collaborations and have sung alongside choirs from around the country, most lately the fabulous Allegri choir from Derry. They were the first Northern Irish Choir to sing at The Tower of London festival of choirs event, held in December, and also travelled to London to sing at the Barbican as part of a fabulous UK wide project called When we collide. Harmony Too have enjoyed providing choral entertainment to the fundraising events of Ballance House, and are delighted to be able to hold their first solo Christmas event in this wonderful space.

The location –

The Ballance House, the headquarters of the Ulster New Zealand Trust (UNZT), is a restored 19th century homestead in the rural countryside of Glenavy. It was the birthplace of John Ballance (b.1839) who went on to become the 14th Premier of New Zealand (1891-93); he was a distinguished Liberal Premier, perhaps best known, before his untimely death in office, for being the first Dominion/Colonial Premier to successfully pioneer full female suffrage 25 years before it was achieved in the UK. There is a blue plaque (allocated by the Ulster History Circle) onsite commemorating John Ballance. The event will take place in the Cottage Room in the Ballance House, and will seat only 50 people.

The evening

The evening will begin at 7:30pm with a mulled wine and shortbread reception before the choir will sing at 8pm. The evening will run without a break and be finished by 9:15pm.

The Ballance House, 118A Lisburn Road, Glenavy, Antrim, BT29 4NY, UK
