South West Community Choir Conventions – Information
The timings for the day are as follows:
| Arrive and Mingle | 12.30 – 1.15pm (auditorium doors open 1pm) |
| FIRST BIG SING | 1.15 – 2.45pm First Break 2.45 – 3.30pm |
| SECOND BIG SING | 3.30 – 5.00pm Meal Break 5.00 – 6.30pm |
| CONCERT | 6.30pm onwards (to finish no later than 9pm) |
Here’s some practical info:
Parking
The closest Bristol City Council multi-storey car parks to St George’s (within 500 yards) are Trenchard Street (BS1 5AN) and West End Car Park (BS8 1EH). There is also metered on-street parking on Great George Street and Charlotte Street. N.B. St George’s Car Park at the rear of the building is not for the general public but for people with physical mobility problems and who have prearranged to park there.
Singing and Seating Places
Tickets are not being sent out. Instead you will have received a QR code in your email confirmation which can be used as your ticket. Your name will also be on a list that will be left with the people checking in. You can sit where you like (upstairs and downstairs). There should be space for people who prefer to be distanced to sit further apart from others. During the Big Sings, singers will divide up into Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Bass sections. These are NOT fixed i.e. you can be singing soprano in one song, then wish to sing alto in the next – singers can move around freely to suit themselves.
Food/Breaks
The St George’s Café Bar will be closed to the public but open to us during the breaks to purchase drinks, cakes and snacks or to eat your own packed lunches/dinners in. They will be open from 11.30am. Please clean up after yourself if you are eating your own food in the café. There are also several cafes, restaurants and shops just around the corner on Park Street and the Triangle.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL INTO ST. GEORGE’S (there will be a fine if this happens). If you wish to drink alcohol on the premises please purchase drinks from the bar.
Convention recordings
We hope that this year’s event will be recorded in the same way as usual. The recording is likely to include the Big Sings as well as highlights from the concert. We’ll be in touch after the event with details of how to order CDs or Dropbox recordings.
