Be The Light: Singing Workshop with Lea Morris (Edinburgh)
Join US-American singer/songleader, Lea Morris, share original, contemporary and traditional multi-layered, polyrhythmic songs. We’ll sing in celebration of the beautiful contrast of dark and light. Lea beautifully describes herself as SoulFolk singer, and was one of eight composers from across the US and the UK commissioned to write songs as part of the Natural Voice Network supported ‘Black Lives Matter Commissioning Project’ and this workshop will be full of joy and hope and harmonies.
You can hear two of Lea’s songs here:
‘Be The Light’ (inspired by Amanda Gorman’s amazing poem):
Lifting as we Climb:
Lea will be supported by Penny Stone, who is an Edinburgh based singer, teacher, composer and activist.

Both Lea and Penny teach with the natural voice ethos of everybody’s right to sing. All are welcome regardless of experience.
Edinburgh: Monday October 9th, 7-9pm
Broughton St. Mary’s Church, EH3 6NE
Tickets priced as you can afford – suggested donation £5-£15, but if you can’t afford this, please do still come and sing with us. You won’t be turned away. (And if you can afford to pay a bit more, that is also welcome. We’ve given a £20 option for those who are able to give a little more support.)
This venue is fully accessible, including toilets, but the main door has about 8 large steps. If you are on wheels or would struggle with these stairs, someone will be ready to show you down a ramp into an alternate entrance and guide you through the building and up via the lift. It’s a bit of a guddle, but we’ll make it as easy as possible. The church is large and has good ventilation, and we will use a CO2 monitor to keep an eye on ventilation throughout the session. If you have any additional support needs that you’d like us to know about, please do get in touch with Penny and we’ll do what we can to support participation for everyone who’d like to come and sing with us.
