Be The Light: Singing Workshop with Lea Morris (Glasgow) | |
Join US-American singer/songleader, Lea Morris, share original, contemporary and traditional multi-layered, polyrhythmic songs. We’ll sing in celebration of the beautiful contrast of dark and light. Lea beautifully describes herself as SoulFolk singer, and was one of eight composers from across the US and the UK commissioned to write songs as part of the Natural Voice Network supported ‘Black Lives Matter Commissioning Project’ and this workshop will be full of joy and hope and harmonies. We are hosting this workshop in collaboration with Govanhill Voices and Quoir.
You can hear two of Lea’s songs here:
‘Be The Light’ (inspired by Amanda Gorman’s amazing poem):
Lifting as we Climb:
Lea will be supported by Penny Stone, who is an Edinburgh based singer, teacher, composer and activist.

Both Lea and Penny teach with the natural voice ethos of everybody’s right to sing. All are welcome regardless of experience.
Glasgow: Tuesday October 10th, 7-9pm
St. Ninian’s Church, G41 2PE.
Tickets priced as you can afford – suggested donation £5-£15, but if you can’t afford this, please do still come and sing with us. You won’t be turned away. (And if you can afford to pay a bit more, that is also welcome. We’ve given a £20 option for those who are able to give a little more support.)
This venue is fully accessible, including toilets. The main door has a couple of steps but there will be a ramp in place and ready to use. The church is large and has good ventilation, and we will use a CO2 monitor to keep an eye on ventilation throughout the session. If you have any additional support needs that you’d like us to know about, please do get in touch with Penny and we’ll do what we can to support participation for everyone who’d like to come and sing with us.
