Coed Fermentation workshop with Absorb Health.

Fermented foods + sharing food in good company = health and happiness!

The month of November brings a close to the annual garden year, and so it’s a time to be bringing all those surplus vegetables and fruits into the home and preserving them in all manner of ways!

Join us at Coed for our first Ediculture – Absorb Health Collaboration, and take home your own sauerkraut/lacto-fermented jar of goodness! (PLEASE REMEMBER – Bring a jar (between 250ml – 500ml)

 We will be making sauerkraut and Lacto-fermented veg, we will share and taste other fermented products like kimchi, siracha and kvass and we will also explore the great power of miso and it’s use!

We will also be serving up a delicious lunch with freshly cooked vegetables from the garden, including some  fermented foods.

Details:

Ediculture will be collaborating with Laure, a naturopath and fermentation queen who established Absorb Health, a business where she offers her services in naturopathy, workshops on health, including fermentation, and fermented products such as water kefir, and sauerkraut. Laure will be leading a practical workshop on lacto-fermentation and the wonderful benefits it has for our health.

This session is supported by Stephen from Ediculture and some other residents from Coed, plus a wheelbarrow of freshly picked veggies straight from the garden which will be used for the workshop.

We will be Lacto-fermenting vegetables from the Coed Gardens which may be any of the below;
  • carrots
  • Beetroots
  • green tomatoes
  • herbs
  • chilies
And making Sauerkraut with any of the possible below;
  • cabbage
  • carrot
  • beetroot
  • fennel
  • garlic
  • Additional herbs

We will be stopping for lunch at 12:30pm for lunch

This event is part of a wider event called the Coed Cauldron, which follows on from the fermentation workshop.

At 1pm we will be Tree planting, for all to join in.

Following on from the tree planting Stephen from Ediculture will be giving an introduction to the 8 phases of Ediculture. This introduction will be a chance for people to find out more about ediculture and ask questions. Ediculture is a short form of Edible Culture, and is a registered UK charity (1076110), and educational trust dedicated to edible culture and the various subjects that support the learning and practice of edible culture.

In the evening we will be running The Living Room Open Mic with Blu-Jay; Live music in a super cosy chilled space from 7pm – 11pm, also free for all to join.

If you have had a few too many ciders or perhaps because you’d just like to enjoy more the Coed vibe, there’s options to sleep over, in our glamping pods and wagons for a small fee of £25. Don’t forget to bring your own sheets.  Please contact Mathu on mathubloom@hotmail.com
