Connection through Clowning, Community and Curry

May you bring your spring energy into summer with our jam packed event full of all things connection and community.

We’ll be doing this through a beautifully guided clown workshop, sizzling South Indian inspired Street food with a story, and physical storytelling that may make you laugh, reflect or smile from ear to ear.

This event has the ability to make you feel truly part of this vibrant community that Frome has to offer. Join us!

Event details

A warm welcome to the event, with pakoras and chai. For all those with tickets to the 6pm workshop.

6:00pm – 7:30pm: Clown and connection workshop with Jamie Wood

‘Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.’ – Victor Borge

Some of us spend our lives trying hard not to look stupid. What would happen if we stopped?

The world of clown invites our playful, uninhibited selves to be experienced and celebrated.

Jamie has been performing, teaching and directing clown work for 20 years. He lives in Frome.

7:30pm – 7:45pm: Break

Time for a comfort break, with refreshments provided by Mahesh from Lungi Baba’s.

7:45pm – 8:15pm: ‘Flying High’ performed by Luke Bailey

Luke was a national standard pole vaulter who’s aim was to be an Olympic champion. This dream faded away after his forced retirement from competition.

He then found his new passion, clowning and physical storytelling. Come on the journey with him as he returns to competition.

8:15pm – 8:45pm: Delicious South Indian Inspired food served by Mahesh from Lungi Baba’s

Food will be served with a story from Mahesh.

8:45pm – 9:15pm: ‘Come Fly with Fred’ performed by Luke Bailey

Come Join Fred, who will give you a guided tour of how he survives living on the streets. Witness a series of tender moments that, brought together, not only tell the story of a day in the life of a homeless person, but are a reflection on mental health, loneliness and isolation in a world full of people.

This story was created from conversations and interactions with London’s homeless community, and shines a light on subjects that need to be talked about.

There will be a Q&A discussion with Luke and a local homeless charity following the show.

9.30pm onwards: Bar open to chat and socialise
