Gloucester Folk choir spring 2024 | |
Gloucester folk choir is a community choir for Gloucester, based at The Folk of Gloucester 7-8:30pm each Thursday. The choir is based on natural voice principals, meaning that all voices are beautiful and welcome in the space, there are no auditions and generally music is taught by ear.
The choir is run by Sorrel Wilde, who also runs the Island folk choir in Bristol and has been running singing events and choirs for 15 years. Sorrel’s style of teaching is playful and focussed, she aims to put singers at ease and to support them to love their voice and find their innate musicality.

Songs are largely from the British folk tradition, but also reach further afield exploring the wonderful Natural Voice network repertoire of gorgeous circle songs and seasonal songs.
“Sorrel holds space for singing and sound in a way that instantly puts you at ease and connects the whole group. I come away from every session with a warm heart, a big smile and beautiful song arrangements floating through my my mind and off my tongue all week. It’s magic!” (Freya, choir member)
The choir is lgbtq+ friendly, neurodivergent accessible. Please get in touch if you have any specific needs, we’d be happy to accommodate.
