Swansea Singing Day
A community singing day for these times.
Come and explore interconnectivity and community through song, harmony and layered rhythms. Weaving voices to warm and nourish our hearts, bolster our resolve to cherish life with gratitude and carry renewed strength to our homes and wider communities through precarious times. In these times of alarming change, let’s continue to kindle human-scaled beauty in the face of uncertainty.
Whatever singing experience and ability, whether you know you love singing or would love to grow the confidence to, your voice is tenderly welcome and valued. Songs are taught by ear, step by step, learning through listening.
Songs are carefully chosen and shared with consideration, grounded in the cultural soils from which they grew, holding memory, meaning, and belonging.
Whatever your singing experience or apprehensions, your voice is truly welcome. Together our voices form a complete sound; no voice matters more or less than another. I’m not seeking any particular sound, but rather an exploration of what emerges from many voices collaborating together and carrying each other in different ways.
Swansea Wellbeing centre sits on Walter Road, a short walk from the city centre.
Tickets come with a sliding scale. The examples are indications only – edges are squishy, use your own judgement. I won’t ask questions, I trust your integrity. If you need to claim a bursary place (free or your chosen amount), thank you. I’m sorry your situation requires it and I’m glad you can join us. If you can’t come in the end, please do let me know so your place can be available to someone else.
Please bring a savoury or sweet dish to contribute to a collective lunch buffet.
