Lake Montgomery

Lake Montgomery is a singer-songwriter born in Paris, Texas. After more than a decade moving between countries in Europe, she has made Edinburgh her home, where her songwriting continues to draw from the people, streets and quiet corners she has lived among.
Her songs sit somewhere between American folk and Old-World ballad — spare guitar, an unhurried voice, and lyrics that prefer the small, true detail over the grand gesture. She first found her footing as a performer in Amsterdam, where open mics, festival stages and the generous tradition of street performance taught her that an audience of one, listening closely, is enough.
Whether on a listening-room stage, a busking pitch in the south of France, or in collaboration with other artists across Scotland and the Netherlands, her work returns to the same idea: that art, at its best, is a deep love of humanity.
“She makes songs that hurt your heart happy.” — Aberdeen Performing Arts
“A badass lyricist laying down intimate stories with a hint of fury.” — Smeaton Gallery (2024)

Peaks

Peaks is a musical partnership between violinist George Smith and cellist Duncan Strachan, founder members of the Maxwell Quartet. Incorporating both electronic and acoustic mediums, Peaks weaves together an eclectic range of musical strands, with much of the duo’s work focusing on aspects of Scottish traditional culture, recontextualised in a post-minimalist and post-modernist aesthetic.
Their debut album ‘Cladach / Mullach’, released in September 2026, is a two-part musical reflection on folk tales and legends from various parts of the Western Isles of Scotland. Blending string textures, traditional music forms, Gaelic song and storytelling, the album features guest vocals from acclaimed piper Brìghde Chaimbeul. Smith and Strachan have taken this story and woven together a magical 50-minute soundscape which describes the landscapes of the western isles, both bleak and beautiful, through music. Incorporating traditional music forms and post-minimalist string textures, the piece is a mesmerising journey which reflects on tradition, the passing on of stories and the connection of music to the land.
