Companion Voices Open Workshop
A workshop to learn about the work of Companion Voices, singing for people at End of Life, with presentation, discussion and experiential aspects, led by Companion Voices UK Director Judith Silver and Ella Speirs of Companion Voices Chester. Open to anyone who would like to learn more and may wish to get involved as a financial patron, singing supporter, administrator, publicist or bedside Companion, this workshop is designed as an introduction to the model used by Companion Voices. As part of the event we will eat together (bring your own food).
“Companion Voices are singers based in the UK who gather to learn songs and prepare themselves to sing for people at the end of life. We share our voices, compassion and loving presence, whether in person or virtually, when called upon to do so. Our deep and trusting community supports all Companions as well as those we gather to serve.” www.companionvoices.org
Judith Silver is musician by profession and a gifted and experienced Natural Voice choir leader and composer. She founded the first Companion Voices group in Brighton, February 2014. Her passion for the work of creating a community, a network of like-minded people who all feel drawn to this profound service is still as strong as it was at the start. Working with people who wish to become Companions and with those we sing for is one of the greatest blessings of her life and a true privilege.
Ella Speirs is a Natural Voice Practitioner with a passion for facilitating community spaces through song who holds singing groups in Chester and Wrexham. She brings her years of expertise as a therapist, group faciliator and song leader to this valuable work and is in the process of establishing a Companion Voices group in Chester.
