Wintersong 2025
Wintersong is a concert of seasonal song and poetry to mark the turn of the year. Inspired by and drawing on the body of Ali Burns’ ‘Forgotten Carols’, we will together learn songs in harmony to bring a soulful contemplation to the season, acknowledging the pain as well as the joy, and the need to find connection, love and joy at this time of darkness. Participants will learn the songs at a series of workshops, and then perform to a paying audience. The concert will raise funds for marginalised people, both locally and internationally.
By signing up to become part of the Wintersong choir, you are committing to attending all or most of the rehearsals and to learning the parts, as there is not very much time between the first rehearsal and the performance. But all are welcome, and it is not necessary to read music as everything will be taught by ear. All words, some music, and sound files to aid learning will be provided
The rehearsals will take place at the following times. Timings might vary as the project proceeds!
