We welcome allies as well as LGBTQ+ community members – no experience needed or any ability to read music – we learn everything by ear in a safe and supportive space.

You are invited to participate in the community chorus of Seeds of Hope: A Feminist Requiem which will be coming to Sheffield in September 2025. The requiem was written by Penny Stone in memory of her amazing feminist mum, Sue Stone, and brings together the words of women from all over the world, spanning from 575 CE until the present day. There is space in this piece for singing and listening, for sadness and joy, and for connection as well as time spent with our own individual feelings.

Christine Collister is a magical live performer, with her gravity defying voice, assured and impressive live performances and great personal charm has become a familiar and popular name on the ‘live’ scene including major international festivals from Glastonbury to Cambridge, Winnipeg to Port Fairey.  Over her 40 year career, Christine  has released 24 albums, a DVD celebrating 20 years in the business and an acclaimed single with the BBC: the theme tune for “The Life and Loves of a She-Devil” in 1987.

The Big Autumn Family Sing – A family singing session welcoming mamas, papas, siblings, grandparents, etc!  We will be singing simple harmony songs and rounds – all learned by ear – so no previous experience of singing, or music making required – ALL voices are welcome.

Jim Causley is a folk-singer, award winning songwriter, musician, proud Devonian and all-round entertainer. He grew up in a wassailing village not far from Sidmouth Folk Festival, sang with Wren Music before heading to Newcastle University to study on their brand new degree course in Folk & Traditional Music. He rose to prominence singing with The Devil’s Interval and Mawkin:Causley as well as touring with Waterson:Carthy and David Rotheray. In recent years his work has focused on his musical settings of poems by his relative Charles Causley, penning his own songs and reviving lost gems from his home county.

Chris While (vocals, guitar, banjo, dulcimer, bodhran and percussion) & Julie Matthews (vocals, piano, guitar, mandolin and bouzouki) are stunning singers, songwriters, musicians and performers whose energy and commitment to their craft and their audience is boundless.

They are two of the best and most hardworking musicians on the world folk roots scene, both are highly regarded producers and they record everything that they are involved in at their own studio in a small pennine town far from the Londoncentric music industry. They truly are inspirational women.

Miranda Sykes is an acclaimed folk singer, bassist and guitarist. She has been performing for almost 30 years with a variety of artists including Show of Hands. Miranda now tours with Daphne’s Flight, SykesMartin, Jim Causley, Phil Beer, and as a soloist accompanying her voice with bass and guitar.

Martyn is a raconteur, weaving tales on political and human issues, as well as stories on the fragility of love, with a magical ability to reach out to his listeners through his passion and commitment. Stunning reviews single him out as an unmissable solo performer whose music stays with you long after the show has ended.

All day Harmony Singing Workshop with Kirsty Martin in Pontypridd
